fer & Stewart on this rollicking adventure through the Isles, Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland along with a couple of night in the English Lakes district on the way.

As we work at planning this exciting tour, we've wonderful hotels, locations and activities already in place. Do you fancy spending a couple of nights, basking in the rural luxury of this magnificent 18th century palace, (below)? We're going to do so and enjoy the extensive grounds and woodland walks to boot!

We don't have everything in place yet, and even if we did, we wouldn't overwhelm you at this early stage... We just want to share the general overview and inspire you to jump in and hold a place whilst we finish our work!   CLICK HERE TO RESERVE YOUR PLACE

"OH......WHERE, TELL ME WHERE, ARE WE GOING ON THIS TOUR ?" (sung !)
Curiously, we're not beginning this Gaelic adventure in Scotland, but (having flown into Manchester), we'll start with a couple of nights in a grand rural property, nestled by the water, in the centre of the spectacular Lakes District. Taking time to recover from our travel to the UK, to get to know each other and our Tour Director, whilst enjoying the beauty and tranquility of a truly splendid part of the North of England, will set us up to get the most from Scotland.

OVER THE BORDERS !
Soon will come the thrill of passing over the Borders into Bonnie Scotland! One 'must stop' attraction, once over, is legendary poet Robbie Burns' birthplace cottage and museum. Beautiful gardens, the Burns monument, the Old Kirk, 15thC Brig-a-Doon bridge and a poets walk will enable us to see what inspired the young poet and make for a very interesting stop. The on-site cafe usually has Haggis on offer too.....if you'd like to get into the spirit of the tour on Day One!

Our first base is the Capital, Edinburgh where we take several days to explore and immerse ourselves in this lively and quite urbane city... Its spectacular castle on the hill and the view over 'Edi' from Arthur's seat are must sees but there will be many more unique visits and places to savour, including a Traditional Scottish evening of entertainment. You'll have free time to explore on your own too.

We'll then head North to Perthshire and enjoy the spectacular countryside, 'chocolate box' views and delightful small towns of the area. We will live like Barons here! (a clue!!) After a couple of nights, of luxury and countryside, we're off to Inverness, the 'capital of the Highlands' and officially Scotland's 'happiest city!' We simply must stop at Queen Victoria's beloved Balmoral Castle enroute, to explore the grounds & history and visit the grand ballroom! We're not allowed a good poke around however as the Queen will very likely be in residence!

Whilst based in Inverness we'll visit its tiny 18thC Cathedral, nestled by the banks of the River Ness, the covered Victorian Market, Museum and more. Beyond, we'll indulge in the rural wonders of the Highlands. The Battlefields of Culloden are an essential visit, with the site well set up with an information centre and onsite guides.
We then head to Skye where we stay several nights to explore this magical island, it's Fairy Pools and other natural wonders. We return to the mainland via the sea (a la Bonnie Prince Charlie...but in reverse!!) It's then time for Fort William, centre of the Cameron Clan. We'll see the historic Achnacarry House, Museum and grounds and if he is at home, we will also meet the Clan Chief.
A highpoint will be the way we actually get to Fort William, aboard the Jacobite Steam train (made famous as Harry Potter's tramsport to Hogwarts!) We board the train at Mallaig and follow the Road to the Isles....crossing the famous Glenfinnen Viaduct.... hopefully not flying off the rails and ending up in a land of magic!!

After several nights in Fort William, we proceed to the Isle of Mull. Whilst staying here, we'll explore the pictureque capital and take the boat to the historically significant Island of Iona - birthplace of Celtic Christianity, just off the Coast.

Our tour will conclude with four fabulous nights in Glasgow, and en route a visit to the legendary Loch Lomond with its lovely lochside villages. Glasgow will then release its charm for you, a dynamic Scottish city, with an appealing pedestrian mall and shopping complex and a variety of music venues making for pleasurable exploration.

Throughout this magical tour, there will be many opportunities for walkers (of all abilities) to stride out into the countryside and embrace the spectacular scenery and outdoors life for which Scotland is famous.....rocky crags, sweeping valleys, vast lochs, rugged seaside and tranquil woodlands offer a plethora of natural wonders. If the outdoors doesn't appeal, our charming centrally-located hotels will all offer delightful places to relax, enjoy a drink, a meal or a leisurely stroll in the grounds. Nearby towns or villages always hold some curiosities too for those who enjoy poking about and looking for treasures! The fresh food is wonderful, and we'll savour a couple of special long lunches in the countryside with gorgeous views to enjoy whilst chomping on local produce, such as grouse, the famous salmon, fresh lobster and more!

The truly wonderful thing about this tour, aside from the Itinerary, will be the knowledge, care and assistance of our consummate British tour-director and guide, Phil Coates. ( last seen on our England & Wales tour in 2018 ). Dedicated, efficient and an all-round great fellow, we know everyone will love him and treasure his insights. Our sensational Scottish Fling will be a fabulous first visit for some and an exciting fresh look for those revisiting.
What about the music you cry? Yes, of course, there will be music!

We'll certainly attend a couple of Celidhs ( nights of traditional Scottish music and dance.... Be prepared to learn the steps and join in!). There are Highland Games in many areas at this time too...a show in themselves! We'll enjoy a dinner show featuring Traditional Scottish entertainment and in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, we plan to attend a performance of some type, depending what is on offer in the theatres. In both Pitlochry and Inverness there are vibrant local theatres presenting both plays and music and for those wishing to attend the Edinburgh Tattoo, we will make this possible via a short coach trip from Glasgow. We are working on engaging some fine local performers and other musical inclusions and of course, there WILL be pipes and drums!! It's Scotland!

Scotland is both Stewart AND Jennifer's ancestral homeland. We will be looking forward to this tour as much as you, and we already know it will be very popular. With next year's tours already full, be sure you have the option to join us in 2021. Reserve now!

We’d love to have you join us.
