On the Road to Mandalay – 10 Days on Myanmar’s (Burma) Irrawaddy River  (A likely repeat!)

" we are back home after a truly remarkable journey. We enjoyed every bit of it; thanks in no small way to an herculean effort on both your parts. Well done again." Ian and Marie - Melbourne

This was an incredible experience...the sights...the contrasts...everything. We saw people eeking out their livings often in real ‘survival mode’...cutting grass with a foot operated machine to feed precious bullocks, lifting large pots from smouldering straw which had fired them, washing with stones on the muddy riverbanks....and at the other end of the scale, glittering Pagodas and Buddhas thick with gold leaf....and the plain of Bagan strewn with some 3,000 ancient pagodas and stupas. The ship’s crew were simply marvellous and our every need was satisfied before we’d even thought about it! So many little thoughtful touches each day....Aside from excellent service and food, we had Aloe Vera ‘wipes’ for our feet, waiting with our shoes when these were removed for temple visits...there were cold face washers and little glasses of various fruit drinks to welcome us back aboard after shore visits...and always many helping hands and cheery smiles to guide us on and off the ship across planks and much of the time, literally onto the river banks.. Truly it was magical and we saw far to much to describe here. (We’re seriously looking into another charter in late 2018..Do let us know if you’d be interested.
