OPERATIF! are already putting together another winning program of concerts, scheduled to take place in a variety of evening and daytime slots.
“There is so much to do on Norfolk Island, we are mindful of allowing our Festival attendees plenty of opportunities to take in the many excellent local tours, explore the island and its historic sites or simply laze about and enjoy the scenery and fresh air,” said Stewart Cameron - co-founder of Opera in Paradise and OPERATIF.
‘Opera in Paradise,’ will be in its 12th year in March 2018, and with enthusiasm for the event growing each time, the producers, OPERATIF! anticipate their best ever attendance in 2018.
“We believe that enjoyment of the marvellous and varied concerts is heightened when people are on holiday, relaxed and with no pre-concert traffic or parking problems,’ Stewart said. ‘You can feel that the audience is relaxed and in a good spirits and that in turn lifts the performers. The concerts are all different and feature popular opera highlights, different styles of song, including hits from the musicals, best-loved piano solos and duets and to cap things off…some stunning violin pieces. Anyone who loves good music will be thrilled with the concerts, which are always highly appealing and feature well-known pieces. CLICK HERE to hear first about Opera in Paradise 2018

ITALY - THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED - 30th May to 25th JUNE 2018
Join us for this special tour to our '2nd-home'. Enjoy places missed by most travellers to this atmospheric country as we visit Italy’s hidden gems with opera, classical & folk performances along the way. We will never be far from major centres ( for performances ), while enjoying the 'Road Less Travelled'. Please read on for our draft itinerary - still in development, and there will be changes, but you will get the idea!
We fly into Dubai ( with stopover ) and then Rome and take the short drive into the Lazio countryside to the gorgeous lakeside town of Bolsena. Here we gather our strength after the flight and then start exploring the incredible Etruscan history of the area in towns such as Tuscania & Tarquinia. The Etruscans were much-admired by the Romans and inspired many of the advances associated with them. After also seeing on eof the great gardens ofItaly, we travel through the Maremma area of Southern Tuscany to a real favourite of ours in the Val D'Orcia - the town of San Quirico d'Orcia. There is much to do in the local area as we take in markets, wineries and charming villages, but on the way we will visit Pitigliano and its unique Jewish architecture. While here, we will enjoy a private performance by a fabulous musical group, who will perform all the great traditional and Neapolitan songs from days gone by.
Our next stop is Puccini's town of Lucca, but on the way we enjoy hill-top towns such as Montepulciano - with views to the whole region. We also stop in one of Tuscany's best kept secret spots in the Casentino valley: Poppi Castle and the Pieve di San Pietro A Romena where we have a lavish lunch on local specialties incuding game, mushrooms and wild herbs. In Lucca we visit Puccini's home and enjoy a performance of arias and duets - from Puccini - of course. WE will also travel over to Torre del Lago - the lakeside town where Puccini lived and composed for so many years. ( his lakeside house is a Museum to his life ). From Lucca, we move a little way north - not to the over-rated and over-crowded Cinque Terre - but to Pistoia and then the incomparable Sestri Levante on the Italian Riviera. ( pictured above). This is the 'real Riviera', as the Italians enjoy it. We will enjoy drinks on a magnificent hotel terrace overlooking the bay and just soak up the Dolce Vita. From Sestri Levante, we will visit some of the other charming towns of the Riviera region, including Portofino and Camoglie. We will also visit the stunning Abbey of Cervera.
After here, we track across the north to Montagnana where we base ourselves for visits to Ferrara, Padova, Verona and some Palladian Villas before moving on into the Veneto where we stay in the charming walled town of Castelfranco Veneto or Asolo. Here we visit Valdobbiadene, the home of Prosecco and Conegliano, Vittorio Veneto, Feltre and some of the Ville Bellunesi.
Our final stop is the incomparable 'Seremissima' - Venice, where we stay at our favourite hotel, just a 5 minute walk from San Marco but also so close to La Fenice Opera House ( where we will see a performance ) and the Accademia / Dorsoduro area ( where we will see another performance ), with its artisan shops and cute wine bars - frequented mostly by locals ( we know a few ! ). We fly out direct to Dubai from Venice's San Marco Airport.
Early arrival can be booked to get to Rome before us or an extended stay in Venice ( or elsewhere ) at end of tour also possible.
EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST & SEND US AN EMAIL ( there will be an opportunity to 'Reserve Your Place' before end January 2017 )
In the planning are a number of new tours, including 'Colonial Singapore & Malacca', 'Marvellous Musical Melbourne', 'The Opera Grand Tour - Europe', 'Carnevale in Venice' + more.
